A Collection: Nothin’ ‘Bout Love Makes Sense by LeAnn Rimes

Sometimes you come across a song that moves you right down deep in your soul. I wanted to start a category on my blog for those songs or poems that are so lyrical, so poetic, so beautiful that they can’t help but touch you.

Or as in this particular case, sometimes the images are so clever that you can’t help but take delight in them.

Nothin’ ‘Bout Love Makes Sense

Like a cloud full of rain shouldn’t hang in the sky
Ice shouldn’t burn or a bumble bee fly
If you feel so happy, then why do you cry?
Oh, nothin’ ’bout love makes sense.

Like an ocean liner shouldn’t float on the sea
A pearl in an oyster or a circus of fleas
Someone so perfect can’t be falln’ for me
Oh, nothin’ ’bout love makes sense.

[Chorus]
Nothin’ ’bout love is less than confusin’
You can win when you’re losin’
Stand when you’re fallin’
I can’t figure it out
Nothin’ ’bout love can make an equation
Nothin’ short of amazin’
Wish I could explain it
But I don’t know how

The way that we dance
The reason we dream
That big Italian tower
Oh, how does it lean
Somethin’ so strong shouldn’t make me this weak
Oh, nothin’ ’bout love makes sense.

[Repeat Chorus]
Like the lights of Las Vegas glowin’ out of the sand
A jumbo shrimp or a baby grand
How you touch my heart when you hold my hand
Oh, nothin’ ’bout love makes sense.

Oh, nothin’ ’bout love makes sense.
Oh, nothin’ ’bout love makes sense.
Oh, nothin’ ’bout love makes sense.

I hear this song and it immediately makes me smile because it’s light and fun and clever.

Do you have any lyrics that instantly put a smile on your dial? Let me know!

A Collection: Stardust by Nat King Cole

Sometimes you come across a song that moves you right down deep in your soul. I wanted to start a category on my blog for those songs or poems that are so lyrical, so poetic, so beautiful that they can’t help but touch you.

Stardust

And now the purple dusk of twilight time
Steals across the meadows of my heart
High up in the sky the little stars climb
Always reminding me that we’re apart

You wander down the lane and far away
Leaving me a song that will not die
Love is now the stardust of yesterday
The music of the years gone by

Sometimes I wonder why I spend
The lonely night dreaming of a song
The melody haunts my reverie
And I am once again with you
When our love was new
And each kiss an inspiration
But that was long ago
Now my consolation
Is in the stardust of a song

Beside a garden wall
When stars are bright
You are in my arms
The nightingale tells his fairy tale
A paradise where roses bloom
Though I dream in vain
In my heart it will remain
My stardust melody
The memory of love’s refrain

The lyrics in this song are just so gorgeous in their imagery but I also want to say that I just love the instrumentation that accompanies Nat King Cole. Those singing violins and full orchestra really encapsulate the beautiful, majestic, bittersweetness of the lyrics. You can just imagine him as he is swept up into the ‘memory of love’s refrain.’ Gorgeous! I’m getting teary as I write this. It’s just so beautiful!

I’d love to hear from you guys. Do you have lyrics or poems that are just so beautiful that they make your soul cry?

A Collection: The Colour of My Love by Celine Dion

Sometimes you come across a song that moves you right down deep in your soul. I wanted to start a category on my blog for those songs or poems that are so lyrical, so poetic, so beautiful that they can’t help but touch you.

The Colour of My Love

I’ll paint my mood in shades of blue
Paint my soul to be with you
I’ll sketch your lips in shaded tones
Draw your mouth to my own

I’ll draw your arms around my waist
Then all doubt I shall erase
I’ll paint the rain that softly lands on your wind blown hair

I’ll trace a hand to wipe out your tears
A look to calm your fears
A silhouette of dark and light
While we hold each other oh so tight

I’ll paint a sun to warm your heart
Swearing that we’ll never part
That’s the color of my love

I’ll paint the truth
Show how I feel
Try to make you completely real
I’ll use a brush so light and fine
To draw you close and make you mine

I’ll paint the truth
Show how I feel
Try to make you completely real
I’ll use a brush so light and fine
To draw you close and make you mine

I’ll paint a sun to warm your heart
Swearing that we’ll never part
That’s the color of my love

I’ll draw the years all passing by
So much to learn so much to try

And with this ring our lives will start
Swearing that we’ll never part
I offer what you cannot buy
Devoted love until we die
